WARNING! At 10.20AM PDT on October 8th 2009 Apple released the 3.1.2 version (7D11) of the iPhoneOS.
If you care about your jailbreak and unlock, don’t update your device - 3G and 3G(S) owners should pay particular attention to this warning.
- PwnageTool and redsn0w are not yet compatible with 3.1.2
- There is no estimated release time for compatible tools (please don’t bug us about this).
- Any information we have regarding this update will be posted here.

The one stop tool to jailbreak iPhones and iPods is getting very near and it looks like the program will be called blackra1n. The web site is up so it’s very likely the program will arrive very soon, keep hitting that refresh button!

So you have a 3GS on 3.0 a 3G on 3.1 and a 2G on 2.2.1?! JBing the iPhone can be a confusing process and unless you know what you are doing you could end up with your pride and joy resembling something more suited as part of your house. Well things maybe about to change.
George Hotz is a leg-end in the iPhone world known for his hardware unlock back in the day when none of us wanted to rip open our shiny new device. Things have changed since then though and software Jailbreaking is all the rage these days mainly thanks to the iPhone-Dev Team serving a large part of the community. Now though George(or Geohot as he is known) is back with an exploit that once implemented will apparently Jailbreak them all, Meet the Family…
In just two days (ETA) we may get our hands on the software that will allow those of us with an iPhone 3GS to Jailbreak version 3.1 of apples iPhone OS which is exactly what I’m waiting for.
It nearly didn’t happen though as another iPhone mod man known as Chronic Dev revealed the exploit code that Geohots program will use which could have only been done to promote their own forthcoming program Greenpois0n and also enables apple to start working on a fix before either program is released.
My money is on Geohot though and I suggest people wait until he has his program out as I think he deserves at after reading about everything he did for the hardware unlock back in 2007.
So although George doesn’t like to race some will say that the race is well and truly on.
